In between reading up on psychoanalysis and vacuuming every square inch of my house to deal with an apparent flea problem I found the time this weekend to sketch up a quick diagram of our master bedroom. Behold:
As a reader suggested, I think I’m going to put everything except the bed back where it was. And I’m going to keep my eye out for a pair of small round tables to use as nightstands-I’m thinking something metal to break up all the wood in here. And I would love to get a large rug to anchor the space. Maybe this one? I think I like the bed in the corner because it just feels like a better use of the space. It’s hard to describe, but the room just felt “off” before. Maybe it’s feng shui or something. Also, the bed-in-corner layout offers the distinct advantage of providing hidden storage space behind the headboard! We don’t have any attic storage so bulky seasonal decor and long term storage have always posed a special challenge for us. With the bed arranged this way I could pile that corner up with outgrown baby gear I’m not ready to part with and no one would be the wiser.
So now I’m on the hunt for a pair of nightstands. I know the frugal thing would be to keep my eyes peeled at the thrift store, estate sales, etc., but I’m feeling impatient and may splurge for something online if I can find what I’m looking for at a good price (and by “splurge” I mean maybe I’d spend $100 for the pair, and that would be pushing it).
Thanks for reading, y’all. I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Target has some smaller metal ones that have little stud detail along top and bottom rim! And , I love tge layouy!
I’ve been checking out Target’s selection! Love me some tar-jay, even if I do think a lot of their stuff is overpriced.
Love the storage idea. And I feel you on the fleas
We just got rid of a major infestation by using diatomaceous earth and vaccuuming twice a day. Good luck!
Ugh they’re the worst! I think I need to get some diatomaceous earth. I don’t want to bomb the place because of the baby so that may be a good solution.
Yayyy! I am so excited you decided to keep the bed in the corner. I just think it looks so elegant and unexpected when people walk into our room. It’s like the bed is reaching out for a hug or something. And somehow it makes the room look bigger and not as “boxy.”
Yes! It felt like I was just trying to fill up all the walls with furniture before. It feels so much less boxy now!
